Playing it safe in sex is holding you back. Sometimes people get stuck in roles. As you’re hearing this, you might recognize yourself getting stuck in certain roles in sex. And if you are, keep listening—this might be really helpful to you.

You see, sometimes in sex, we get stuck in a certain way of doing things, a certain way of being, or even certain roles and positions. For example, you might be in a long-term relationship where you just do the same things over and over again, because that’s what you’ve always done. It becomes incredibly safe, incredibly familiar, and also incredibly boring.

And yet, there’s part of you that might want to scream out for something more—something different, something more alive, something wiser, something more passionate. Maybe this resonates with you.

Whether you have one partner or many, or even a combination of both, one of the key things in sex is allowing yourself to step out of these roles and patterns. The best sex ever requires vulnerability. It requires intimacy. But people sometimes mistake intimacy as needing to look good, be perfect, or get everything right.

True intimacy, however, is about showing up authentically and saying the things you might be scared to say. It might be expressing what you really want to try, acknowledging insecurities you have, or sharing things that have been weighing on you. Whatever it is, holding these back takes you away from being truly intimate with your partner.

So, how do you fix this? Start by taking small risks. Maybe it’s asking for what you want. Maybe it’s making a suggestion to try something new or doing things differently. It might even mean stepping into discomfort and embracing the unknown.

But here’s an important caution: Be mindful not to fall into a caretaking role, where you focus on managing others’ needs as a way to avoid dealing with your own. Caretaking can be a way of keeping yourself safe, but it often takes you away from your true desires and needs.

The answer lies in vulnerability—taking a chance, asking, talking, and communicating.

I hope this is helpful to you. If you’d like to know more, feel free to subscribe and check out other offerings I have available. Thank you.
